Description

See the excitement on students’ faces when you take them for their first breaths underwater on their Discover Scuba Dive! Once you’re qualified as a PADI Divemaster you can work closely with our experienced PADI Instructors to develop your teaching skills with entry level divers. Upon completion of this program, you will be qualified to take Discover Scuba Divers on their first dives in a pool or confined open water.

A truly rewarding extra for your Divemaster Course! For those completing their PADI Divemaster course with us we offer this programme completely FREE.

The Course

The PADI DSD Leader does not mean Instructor, but it does require some Instructor adjacent skills that you will find useful if you’re planning to complete your Instructor Certification in future.  The other thing to remember is that 5 Discover Scuba Diving Students count as 1 certification so even if you aren’t an Instructor yet you can still get your numbers up and be able to go for Master Scuba Diver Trainer much sooner than other new instructors.

What You Will Learn

For the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Leader internship the PADI DSD Leader candidate must conduct four separate real (not simulated) PADI Discover Scuba Diving programs (with real students), in confined water under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor. PADI DSD Leader interns must show their ability to conduct effective briefings, in-water supervision and debriefings with non-certified divers.

At the Uk Diving Academy all our Divemaster Courses include this programme as an option, without charge, as by the time you complete your Divemaster with us you are ready for this programme, to allow you to take non-divers for their first breath underwater, which we all know is a life-changing experience.

In resort environments, the PADI DSD Leader rating is a prerequisite for some positions at busy dive centres and can significantly boost a dive pro’s income.

The course fee does not include the fees to PADI for certification. This applies for both if you completed your Divemaster with us or are taking the standalone Discover Scuba Diving Leader.

The Learning Materials

PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology whenever, wherever it's convenient for you. It's your course on your time. Study offline, or online using a computer or mobile device. Connect with our instructors whenever you have a question.

Prerequisites

For the Internship you will also require a full HSE Medical.

Medical Requirements

Our experiences and courses require a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. Instructors, divemasters and dive shop staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN), or your own Doctor.

You will not be able to participate in any pool or open water sessions without confirming your fitness to dive.
